While a dog and cats basic needs are the same and their natural behaviours the same, how those needs are met and those behaviours expressed can be quite individual.
Some dogs and cats may like to eat chicken, while others may love beef or kangaroo.
Dogs love their bones and while we recommend feeding a bone a day, if your dog is transitioning to a raw diet and their gut doesn’t currently tolerate a bone a day, tailor their diet to their current needs and maybe feed a bone every second day.
A younger more active dog may love going for a sniffing walk along the beach or in the bush. An older dog may be happy going for a short sniffing walk around the block.
Some dogs and cats may be fearful of loud noises or people while some are not.
Some dogs and cats are quite vocal in their communication style, while others may use other ways to communicate with their environment and those around them.
Some dogs (and cats) love the car, some do not.
What food, supplement or toy is good for one, may not be for another. What food, supplement or toy is loved by one, may not be loved by another.
When selecting anything for your animal – whether a food, a supplement or the type of exercise you are going to do with them – please consider not only their natural behaviour but also their individual needs, likes and capabilities.
When learning to understand your animal and their behaviour, please consider their natural behaviours as well as their individual needs, likes and capabilities.
What works for one animal, may not work for another and what one animal likes another may not.
When considering the health and wellbeing of your dogs and cats, please remember they are as unique and individual as you are.
